1. Can I draw up my own plans?

Plans, drawings and specifications may be prepared by anyone for the following projects:

• Above ground pools and spas
• Driveways
• Fence - new / repair
• Patios / sidewalks

2. What about inspections?

It is your responsibility to insure inspections at specific times during construction are requested. You may have your contractor make the call, but it is still your responsibility, as the property owner, to make sure the inspections are made.

3. Can I do the work myself or do I have to hire a contractor?

Only owner occupied single family residence may do work requiring permits on their own property. The residential property owner will also need to fill out an "Owner / Occupant Affidavit" statement prior to the issuance of a permit.

4. How do I verify if a contractor is licensed?

Contractors are required to be licensed by the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board (PCCLB). You can verify a contractors' license complaints by calling:

5. How do I determine the value of the job?
