Business Tax Receipt (BTR) Process
Are you opening a business in the City of Pinellas Park?
Business Tax Receipts are an essential requirement to operate any business within city limits. The Building Development Division and the Planning and Development Services Division review the application for the use of the business on all commercial properties prior to issuing the BTR to the business.
1. Check Business Eligibility
To verify your zoning, use the link below to ensure that you are within city limits and that your business can operate at your desired location.

2. Gather Information
Please be aware of the other documents that are needed when turning in a business tax receipt application. These items include:
- Federal Tax Identification Number
- Proof of business name registered with sunbiz.org (Fictitious Name)
- All required state licenses for proposed business activities (ex. PCCLB)
- Please note, there may be other licensing requirements based on the business type. Please contact the Building Development Division with any questions.
3. Fill Out An Application
Please locate the business tax receipt application below. All licensure requirements must also be submitted at the time of the completed application.
To ensure accuracy of all documents, please download the Business Tax Receipt Application first, then fill in all necessary components, and save the document. Then email the completed application to BTR@pinellas-park.com. If there are any issue filling out the application, please call Jayne Knapp at (727)-369-5632.
4. Application Review
Applications will be reviewed within 5 business days from receiving the completed application and necessary documents. The City of Pinellas Park will send you an invoice once the application has been processed. It will include payment instructions for your business tax receipt and certificate of occupancy (if applicable).
5. Receive Business Tax Receipt
After payment, the business tax receipt will be available to print from online.

6. Don't Forget to Renew Your Business Tax Receipt
All business tax receipts expire September 30. Notifications are sent during the week of July 1.
