Meet The Chief
Chief Michael Haworth - Biography
Chief Michael Haworth has spent his entire law enforcement career with the Pinellas Park Police Department. Hired in 1990 as a police officer, Chief Haworth worked a wide variety of assignments including: Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Vice and Narcotics, SWAT, and Research and Planning. He was also selected as the Pinellas Park Police Department’s Police Officer of the Year in 1995.
Promotions
Chief Haworth was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1995. As a Sergeant, he served as supervisor in the Patrol Section and within the Vice and Narcotics Section.
In 2000, Chief Haworth was appointed as an acting Lieutenant and worked in the Services Division assigned to Internal Affairs.
In 2001, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and over the next fourteen years had the opportunity to command each of the Department's three divisions and the SWAT Team.
Assignments
In April 2013, Chief Haworth was assigned to the Office of the City Manager as an interim Assistant City Manager in charge of: Finance, Library Services, Neighborhood Services, Community Development, and the Pinellas Park Fire Department.
In August 2013, he returned to the Police Department and was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police. Upon the retirement of long term Chief of Police Dorene Thomas, Michael Haworth was appointed as the Chief of Police in April of 2015.
Education
Chief Haworth holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Angelo State University and a Masters of Public Administration from Troy University. He is a graduate of the 213th Session of the FBI National Academy and the Certified Public Manager Program from Florida State University.
