3-5 Summer Image

Our 3-5 grade programming this summer celebrates folktales and legends from different continents. Encouraging and appreciating the art of storytelling and folklore across the globe. These packets will include activities for reading, writing, research, oral storytelling, cooking, drawing, music, and family time. This summer is all about learning from different cultures and helping kids cultivate their own unique tale.

Saturday, June 5th – Summer Reading Kickoff

12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

Drive by from 12 to 2 to pick up a summer reading registration packet and take a photo of a real-life mermaid! Supplies are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. 


Tuesday, June 8th & 22nd – June Lego Robotics

5:30 p.m.

Use our LEGO® WeDo 2.0 kits to learn how to build and program a robot! Make a sound machine, a dancing robot, explore space and much more! Design robots using the same materials that are used in the World Robot Olympiad and FIRST LEGO® League Jr. Space is limited. For grades 3 and up. To register, call 727-369-0664.


Monday, June 14th – Europe*

10:00 a.m.

This activity kit utilizes oral storytelling, writing, and craft activities to teach participants about European folklore and classic fairy tales.


Monday, June 28th - South America*

10:00 a.m.

Explore South American folklore, native legends, and oral traditions with crafts, writing exercises, and selected readings.


Monday, July 12th – Africa*

10:00 a.m.

Take a peek at African Fairy Tales and legends through art, writing, and reading activities. 


Tuesday, July 13th & 27th – July Lego Robotics

10:00 a.m.

Explore Asian folklore and traditions through art activities, writing exercises, and recipes.

*Packets are available beginning at 10 a.m. the Monday of the release. Supplies are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Materials can be picked up in-person at the Barbara S. Ponce Library or via curbside by calling 727-369-0665. Limit one packet per child.
