Open House to launch the Gateway Master Plan

Major investments have been made in the Gateway area of Pinellas County on State highway improvements, but as a result, accessibility for transit and non-motorized travel has been limited, and many shorter local trips end up using the highway as there are few alternative connecting streets. There is great competition for office, industrial, manufacturing, and residential uses, and more guidance needed to ensure future development occurs in areas where transit service can be effective.

To address these challenges, Forward Pinellas is undertaking an effort with the Florida Department of Transportation, Pinellas County, and the cities of Largo, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater, to develop a Master Plan.  This is a two-year effort, focused on building a comprehensive and coordinated approach to improving connectivity in the area.  A key task of the Master Plan will be to identify focal points of the Gateway area and determine how it may evolve and grow.

We need your help!

YOU’RE INVITED to participate in a discussion during the week of July 23, 2018 to help guide the development of the Gateway Plan. This plan will guide development of infrastructure, create a well-connected, transportation network, and encourage development and redevelopment to support quality economic growth for Pinellas County and Tampa Bay.
